Szklarska Poręba is located not far from Špindlerův Mlýn, in the same region of the Krkonoše (aka Giant) Mountains, but on the Polish side. It is somewhat faster to reach from Berlin (we recommend traveling by car), taking about 3.5 hours of driving, mostly on autobahns.
The largest ski area in Szklarska Poręba is called Szrenica. The summit of Szrenica Mountain is 1,362 meters, the elevation difference is 605 meters. The ski lifts include a combination of chairlifts and tow lifts, offering a reasonably good setup.
We haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but according to friendly accounts, it seems like a great ski weekend option, especially when the queues in Klínovec and Oberwiesenthal become overwhelming.
